Stainless steel pneumatic fittings corrode aluminum, while PA12-CF is untouched. This customers robot arm vacuum plate is a prime example of why 3D printing can be a game changer in manufacturing, replacing traditionally machined metal parts. Introducing ASA-CF, chopped carbon fiber filled ASA (modified and improved ABS). ASA-CF has a higher stiffness than even Polycarbonate, coming in at 3740 MPa (over 50% stiffer). Ideal for outdoor or machine parts that need to take a beating, this spray bar cover plate will be installed in a water park, taking a beating from the sun, chlorinated water and foot traffic. Our customers request PA6-CF (Markforged Onyx) which is a chopped carbon fiber filled nylon 6, offering incredible impact resistance, chemical resistance and one of, if not the best surface finish of any of our materials. Onyx is the choice of our customers who want production quality parts, without having to spend thousands on an injection mould. We can also insert complete strands of carbon fiber, Kevlar and fiberglass in Onyx prints for insanely strong parts. PA12-CF is our next most popular nylon, also a chopped carbon fiber filled nylon, PA12-CF offers greater mechanical performance, high heat deflection temperatures upwards of 190 degrees Celsius, less hygroscopic and also has increased layer adhesion. PA6-GF (nylon 6 15-20% glass filled) is primarily used by our customers for part validation before moving to injection moulding. We are also able to print in natural nylon, typically used by our customers for food safe applications. Why Choose Kevlar Over Carbon Fiber? Kevlar composite 3D prints excel at reducing vibration and increasing impact resistance. Our customers use our Kevlar 3D prints for things like noise dampening in heavy machinery (replacing machined steel parts), accelerometer noise reduction by removing vibration from systems and machine parts that endure repeated high impacts. Fun little project reverse engineering an existing part, originally injection moulded in clear polystyrene, meaning the part was brittle, weak and kept breaking on the customer. We reverse engineered the part in Autodesk Inventor, first printed the model in black PA6-CF (Onyx) for model validation fitment, then moved onto the stainless steel. We're sure the customer will be happy with the result and tolerances. |
