At Laws Plus our range of composite materials includes:
Each composite can be used for specific applications depending on the requirements of the job.
Onyx FR Onyx FR is a flame-retardant short carbon fiber filled nylon designed for use in applications where parts must resist burning. The material earned a UL Blue Card, and is considered V-0 (self-extinguishing) at thicknesses greater than or equal to 3mm. It can be reinforced with any continuous fiber. This base material is suitable for applications where printed components may be susceptible to heat. Carbon Fiber FR Carbon Fiber FR is a flame-retardant variant of Markforged’s unique, ultra-high-strength Continuous Carbon Fiber. When used to reinforce a composite base material like Onyx FR, it can yield parts as strong as 6061-T6 Aluminum. It’s extremely stiff and strong, and can be precisely laid down in a wide variety of geometries. Programmatically trace curved features, reinforce holes, and mimic unidirectional fiber layups. Kevlar Kevlar possesses excellent durability, making it optimal for parts that experience repeated and sudden loading. As stiff as fiberglass and much more ductile, it can be used for a wide variety of applications. We recommend Kevlar for applications with high vibration. Fiberglass Fiberglass is our entry level continuous fiber. It is 2.5 times stronger and 8 times stiffer than Onyx. Fiberglass reinforcement results in strong, robust tools. This material is popular for the marine industry where it’s a familiar material and well understood. Carbon Fiber Carbon Fiber has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of our reinforcing fibers. It is 6 times stronger and 18 times stiffer than Onyx. Carbon Fiber reinforcement is commonly used for parts that replace machined aluminium. Comments are closed.
