Our 3D PRINTING OPEN DAY is nearly here! We will open the workshop to the public from 2pm - 6pm Wednesday 21 August 2024.
Originally injected molded in nylon, with dual/over molded features to encase magnets in the end of its blades, the coolant flow impellor is complex and critical to the operation of the machine and measuring the flow of coolant throughout the system. PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a cost-effective option for prototyping, made from sugar cane oils, making this material environmentally friendly and industrially compostable. Markforged Precise PLA is ideal for design iterations, fit checks, concept models and visual-only parts that are not mechanically demanding. Precise PLA is available in eight different colours to create colour-coded prototypes, tool holders and keep out zones. The 0.05mm layer height is good for small intricate details, such as high tolerance machine parts. We would recommend 0.125mm for most prints and 0.25mm we would recommend for large prints. Originally made from aluminium, the break-away bar deteriorated from thousands of hours of use. Rather than wait for a genuine part, we were able to 3D print a replacement break-away bar for the laser cutter at Laws Laser. Additive manufacturing (3D printing) is a versatile industry. Custom made componentry can be manufactured for a variety of industries including the automotive sector. One of the benefits of working with our Markforged range of 3D printers is the ability to print ready assembled componentry. The components in this photograph have been printed as an example of a print in place assembly. Traditional manufacturing methods would have dictated that this assembly would have had to be made from multiple parts and assembled by hand. With the benefits of additive manufacturing, we’ve been able to manufacture this assembly printed in place, ready to go. The Markforged FX-20 3D printer is the largest we have at Laws Plus. This industrial grade machine is engineered to deliver maximum strength, accuracy and consistency. At Laws Plus our range of composite materials includes:
